Tonight on Revenge of the 80s Radio, we will honor the legendary Michael Hutchence, who would have celebrated his 50th birthday today had it not been for his tragic death in 1997. We will take some time and salute Hutchence with some of his greatest songs with INXS as part of the second hour of the show. The effort by fans to give him a #1 download hit for his landmark day is going strong and can be caught up with at the organizers’ Facebook page. There is also a brilliant tribute website to Hutchence here.
Also, while we are generally not a political show, we must commemorate the Scott Brown Massachusetts Senate seat win, but not because of the new Senator himself: his wife, news anchor Gail Huff, was the central character in the 1985 video for “The Girl With the Curious Hand” by Digney Fignus. The piece gained notoriety as the winner of MTV’s Basement Tapes contest that year.

We will also air cuts by Men Without Hats, Icicle Works, the Hoodoo Gurus, Wall of Voodoo and new music from The Little Girls.

Revenge of the 80s airs live on Friday nights 7-9ET on Q99.1FM in the Hudson Valley (www.wtbq.com); on Wednesdays 12noon Melbourne, AUS time on Radio 80s 87.6FM; Weekday mornings 7-9am AUS time on Seymour FM; Wednesday nights 6-8pm (Eastern US) and Saturdays 7-9pm on The Volt radio (Canada). Podcasts are available on Saturdays after the live show.
