As you may know, Annabella Lwin (formerly of Bow Wow Wow) is working on efforts to raise money to help the people in Myanmar, Burma who are still suffering from the aftermath of Cyclone Nargis, which devastated much of the region on May 2nd.
While the country is working hard to rebuild and take care of those who survived, local and international relief efforts still need your help. Annabella has given me a list of websites (and links to each) where donations can be made and the money would go directly to the relief efforts in Myanmar. We have added some more on this page as well.
The following were recommended by Annabella Lwin in a recent discussion on Revenge of the 80s:
- Disasters Emergency Committee (UK) – This organization has historically been involved in international relief efforts and specializes in response to overseas emergenceis.
- World Vision – A majpr worldwide children’s charity.
- The United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF) – One of the most famous and internationally celebrated charities, a United Nations Organization
- Merlin – An acclaimed and well-established medical aid organization.
Here are some other donation sites for charities involved in Myanmar relief efforts:
- The American Red Cross – Always responding to disaster inside and outside U.S. borders
- Direct Relief International - A worldwide medical relief organization
- Action Against Hunger
- American Refugee Committee
- The Mercy Corps

Things are improving in Myanmar, thanks to international relief efforts. Here is a recent UNICEF video reporting how many of the children in the region are going back to school:
Our interview with Annabella Lwin airs on Friday, June 13, 8pm Eastern US time. The podcast will be available on Saturday morning. We will also post the portion of the interview focusing on Myanmar and relief efforts there seperately. Thank you for reading this and donating.
