Thomas Dolby will be back in North America, coming shortly after a successful performance and lecture tour to support his latest album, A Map of the Floating City, This time, however, the techno synth-pop wizard will come with a new contraption: his own science fiction-inspired time capsule.
High tech video equipment dons the inside of the brass and chrome-plated trailer, which somewhat resembles the H. G. Wells and Jules Verne time machine models. It will be parked outside each of the 24 venues on Dolby’s new tour, which will run March 16 through April 17th, 2012.
Guests will be able to sit comfortably on hand-crafted leather chairs inside and record a video message to the future. The plan is to tape hundreds of these clips throughout the voyage to create a super-montage to be posted online. Dolby says the time capsule can be a positive look into history for whomever inhabits Earth in the distant future:

Two of punk rock’s early legends will begin a tour of North America on Friday, February 24th. Hugh Cornwell, original vocalist for The Stranglers and Glen Matlock, bassist for The Sex Pistols, will co-headline the concert series, which will run through March 17th.
Cornwell will be playing some of his acclaimed solo music and Stranglers classics; Matlock will perform tracks from his latest album, Born Running, and some new material. The lineup also includes Clem Burke (Blondie) and Steve Fishman, who will be playing with both Cornwell and Matlock.
The Western Hemisphere swing starts up in Tucson, Arizona at Club Congress and winds down in Los Angeles. The official tour dates are:

One of classic alternative music’s top brass men, Charlie Lagond, is celebrating a big milestone for his non-profit music school. Members of the band for which he led the horn section, Kid Creole and the Coconuts, and several other top musicians will be on hand to help celebrate the 10th year of his Lagond School of Music with special fundraising webcast.
The Lagond-a-Thon will run live on Friday night, February 10th, 7-11pm Eastern Time on the school’s website, Lagondmusic.org. It will also be available there on-demand after the air date. The show will feature several student performers from the school and appearances by August “Kid Creole” Darnell, Coati Mundi, Adriana Kaegi, George Benson, Bongo Eddie, Oz Noy, Will Lee and members of the Blues Brothers Band. Throughout the program, Mundi will interview several graduates, talking with them about how their lives were positively affected while attending the Lagond School of Music.
