Josie Cotton is our guest on Revenge of the 80s Radio on Friday. Many remember her as the prom band singer in the Valley Girl movie and from her international hit song “Johnny, Are You Queer?”

On this Friday’s Revenge of the 80s Radio, we will feature a conversation with actress Sally Kellerman, who is also an accomplished singer and has a new CD out.

The podcast version of our March 27, 2009 Revenge of the 80s Radio show is up and available at the bottom of this post.
This week’s show features a track from Seona Dancing, the UK Alt-Pop duo that showcased the vocal prowess of Ricky Gervais, creator of the international hit TV series, The Office. We also showcased a 2008 track from Australian legends Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

I am reminded of one after receiving an e-mail news clipping from the great photographer Stan Shaffer and recently watching a short marathon of “The Office” on cable television channel TBS: the show’s creator, Ricky Gervais, might have had enough success in music if things fell right for him that we may never have been able to enjoy his comic genius.

This week’s Revenge of the 80s Radio show (3/7) will feature a conversation with Adriana Kaegi, a founding member of the influential Kid Creole and the Coconuts. Rocker Joan Jett, whose career began with the 1970s girl-band “The Runaways,” hit #1 on this date in 1982 with her mainstream hit “I Love Rock and Roll.” Although this might have been my least favorite Jett tune (pre-“Hit List” of course), it showed the nation’s radio execs that women could rock without whining and […]
