Revenge of the 80s Radio meets Retro Kimmer

Written by on August 14, 2012

In working to schedule an upcoming interview with Deniz Tek and Detroit super-rockers Al King and Chris Taylor on their work with the Mazinga project, Al introduced me to celebrity blogger Kim “Retro Kimmer” Maki, a good friend of his and creator/writer for the influential Retro Kimmer Blog.

Kim is a talented and widely-respected writer, show promoter and story teller. She has been in the center of the Motor City Rock scene for decades (having been born in Ypsilanti, MI and raised on alt-rock, blues, Motown and country music) and works with some of the region’s top talents, including King, Taylor, Deniz Tek, Machine Gun Thompson (of MC5), Dick Wagner and many more stellar musicians.

The Retro Kimmer Blog is not just about music. She writes about several topics, taking us back through the 1960s and 70s with posts about art, scandals, crime, stars, books and people with intriguing stories. Kim’s blog is informative, interesting, and (as George IV, the Prince Regent from Blackadder III would say) “a cracking good read.”

Kim and I will be creating and implementing some jointly-constructed cunning plans in the near future. She will also be a recurring guest on Revenge of the 80s via interviews both on the radio show and on the Revenge of the 80s blog/website.

Keep checking in with us and with The Retro Kimmer Blog for more of our upcoming online adventures. Also, check out the nice write up she posted on Revenge of the 80s.
