R.I.P. Leslie Nielsen

Written by on November 29, 2010

One of the great comedy icons of the 1980s, Leslie Nielsen, passed away yesterday due to complications from pneumonia at age 84.

Nielsen was best known for his role as Lt. Frank Drebbin from the Police Squad series (1982) and the Naked Gun Trilogy, which started in 1988. Other legendary roles include “Dr. Rumack” in Airplane, and “Commander J. J. Adams” in the 1956 classic Forbidden Planet. He also made several memorable guest appearances on TV shows and movie cameos.

Nielsen’s career spanned from 1950 to the present. He provided us with laughs and great movie memories. His delivery was unique and it is likely there will be nobody able to reproduce the way he made a bad pun become witty. We will mess you, Mr. Nielsen; Rest In Peace.
