Remember the Dog Police? The band with the novelty hit “Dog Police” is really a snazzin’ new wave-jazz-multi genre fusion band our of Memphis called the Tony Thomas Trio. While this explains the high quality of the music in the group’s only album under that moniker, we hear more of the story about the song, video, LP and the band’s full musical range from co-founder Tony Thomas.

Thomas reveals what was behind the creation of the Tony Thomas Trio’s alter-ego band, the runaway popularity of the Dog Police’s self-titled track, competing on MTV’s Basement Tapes, the Memphis music scene and what the band members are doing today.
