Friends of Kirsty MacColl will hold a special memorial show, A Concert for Kirsty, on October 10th in honor of her tragic untimely death ten years ago. Artists performing include Shane McGowan, Billy Bragg, Kim Wilde, Jamie Corr and Allison Moyet. The event will take place at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire in London and will raise money for MacColl’s charity, The Music Fund For Cuba; tickets are available here.
Kirsty MacColl was sadly lost ten years ago when she was vacationing in Cozumel, Mexico.
She and her family were snorkeling when a speedboat was headed straight for her son. Instinctively, MacColl swam to the rescue and saved her son’s life — only to fall after bring hit by the vessel, which was in the area illegally.
Since then, her family and friends have been seeking proper justice against the boat’s owner and alleged driver, Millionaire Businessman Guillermo González Nova, who was never prosecuted by the Mexican government.
