Robin Lane and several female rockers will serve as a panel for a special symposium hosted by the Institute for Musical Arts (IMA) on December 6th in Goshen, Massachusetts called “I Will $urvive: Making it in the Music Business.” Lane will be the keynote speaker for the all-day event which features a lineup of Rockgirl Magazine Founder Carla DeSantis, IMA Founder and former Fanny member June Millington, Musician/DJ Liz Borden and singer/songwriter Nini Camps.
Among the topics that will be discussed are making money as a musician in the rough economy, whether the “glory days” of music have passed and the future of the industry. This is an important seminar for independent musicians and it’s location at the IMA’s headquarters (165 Cape St in Goshen, MA) is a relatively short trip from most of the northeast. Tickets are $75 ($50 for students) for the event, which will run between 10am and 6pm on December 6th. There is still space available as of the time of this post. More information can be found on the IMA’s website: www.ima.org.
