Friday Night 12/5: Gorevette’s Debut Concert

Written by on December 4, 2008

Gorevette, a collaboration of girl power-rockers Nikki Corvette and Amy Goire, will play their first live show together Friday night at The Magic Bag in Ferndale, MI.
They are on as part of the Grand Nationals’ 7-inch record release party as one of the opening acts. The full show begins at 8pm.

Nikki Corvette‘s place in music history can never be denied: she and her band, Nikki and the Corvettes, were not just a musical influence to female rockers around the nation, but an inspiration and confidence-booster to some of the great girl groups from the early 1980s into today. Nikki and the Corvettes was a rarity at the time: an all-female rock group that was strong, skilled, talented and not put together by a bunch of recording company suits. Their music and legend lives on through some of the great girl groups that followed her.

Teaming up with Amy Gore and Lianna Castillo of the Gore Gore Girls was probably destiny as the collaboration brings the best of Nikki Corvette and the late 70s/early 80s Detroit sound together with one of the top modern-era talents. The result so far is a band that could make the evening’s lucky concert-goers get up and start a classic mosh-pit and anyone listening while driving cause to not notice the 95-100 MPH he was driving until being pulled over by the highway patrol. We at Revenge of the 80s hope they remain together for a long time.
Some of Gorevette’s original music can be found on their MySpace page.p>
