R.I.P. Ken Ober

Written by on November 17, 2009

Ken Ober, host of MTV’s Remote Control game show, passed away at age 52.

Most of us will always remember the original MTV VJs. Soon, however, executives needed to bring in not only some new presenters, but new ideas. The leadership that created 120 Minutes and brought in IRS – The Cutting Edge, then decided to air classic British Comedies like The Young Ones and Comic Strip Presents, also dreamed up an original game show idea and chose Ober to host. With Colin Quinn, Steve Treccase and Marisol Massey to start the first season, Remote Control became a landmark quiz show for its time.

Most recently, Ober helped put together such successful television shows as Mind of Mencia and The New Adventures of Old Christine.
