A new DVD, Rise Up: Canadian Pop Music in the 1980s, attempts to right the wrongs of music history outside the confines of the Great White North, exposing some of the great sounds out of the Canadian New Wave movement to classic alternative fans today.

The new video from Gorevette, with Nikki Corvette of Nikki and the Corvettes on vox partnering with rocker Amy Gore (Gore Gore Girls).

The holidays are coming and, as promised, we at Revenge of the 80s have scouted around to find some unique and excellent 80s-themed gifts.

Ken Ober, host of MTV’s Remote Control game show, passed away at age 52.

This week, we featured a new single from I, Ludicrous: “We’re the Support Band.” We also feature classic alternative tracks from artists including Siouxsie and the Banshees, Gazebo, The Clash, Icehouse, Holly and the Italians and Aztec Camera.

MTV reports former Bauhaus lead singer Peter Murphy will appear in a cameo role in the sequel to teen-angst-vampire movie Twilight entitled Eclipse.

This week’s Halloween special podcast is up and available at the bottom of this post. We feature two full hours of Halloween music from classic alternative artists.

This week’s Revenge of the 80s Radio show features classic alternative music from artists including XTC, Icehouse, The Untouchables, Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush, The Motels, Romeo Void and Voice of the Beehive. We will also play new tracks from The Little Girls and Gorevette.

Revenge of the 80s Radio welcomes new affiliate Seymour FM in Seymour, Victoria, Australia.

This week’s show featured great driving music of the 1980s. Artists featured in this weeks show include Men Without Hats, The Kings, Pearl Harbor and the Explosions and Nikki and the Corvettes. We also played new cuts from Josie Cotton, ABC and Stan Ridgway with Pietra Wexstun.

The Band Who Made Us All Dance to “The Earthquake Song” in the ’80s is Back with Classic Cuts and a New Sound

This week we focused on geography and world travel as all of our classic alternative tracks played are about places around the world, points of interest and some fictional areas. Artists featured include Louise Robey, The Clash, Strawberry Switchblade, Red Rockers and Missing Persons.

Tonight’s Revenge of the 80s Radio will, thanks to another round of popular demand, feature a full hour of Classic Alternative dance music in the second half of the show with club hits from Alphaville, Clan of Xymox, Grandmaster Flash, Amazulu and more artists of the era.

This week, Revenge of the 80s airs a rebroadcast of its movie soundtrack music special. Artists featured include Trio, Dolby’s Cube, The Plimsouls, Bone Symphony and Wall of Voodoo.

This week, Revenge of the 80s will rebroadcast our “Salute to Movie Soundtracks.” Featured artists include Trio, Cheap Trick, Fishbone with Annette Funicello and the Bone Symphony.
