Welcome back!
A blizzard that hit the northeast hard kept me from doing a live Revenge of the 80s Radio show on Friday, but it did allow me to run an encore of the show featuring our 2009 conversation with the multi-talented, elegant and brilliant Adriana Kaegi. She is best known as a co-founder of Kid Creole and the Coconuts (with August Darnell and Coati Mundi) and leader of The Coconuts. Currently, she is runs her own business, Dear Addy Productions, and is working on new music after releasing her first solo album, TAG. Our interview leads off the second hour of the show.

A massive blizzard will keep me from being live in the studio tonight for Revenge of the 80s Radio and time spent digging out of it along with the extra day-job work kept me from recording a new show. We are postponing the airing of my conversation with Haysi Fantayzee’s Kate Garner until the next week’s show (3/5/10), which will also feature new music by Kate as well as a brand new track from Debora Iyall.
Tonight, I will re-broadcast one of my favorite Revenge of the 80s shows, which features an interview with the elegant and multi-talented Adriana Kaegi from almost one year ago and shortly after the release of her brilliant TAG album.
We apologize to those of you who wanted to hear our Kate Garner interview tonight, but we have her on next week. Thank you and enjoy the show.
Revenge of the 80s airs live on Friday nights 7-9ET on Q99.1FM in the Hudson Valley (www.wtbq.com); on Wednesdays 12noon Melbourne, AUS time on Radio 80s 87.6FM; Weekday mornings 7-9am AUS time on Seymour FM; Wednesday nights 6-8pm (Eastern US) and Saturdays 7-9pm on The Volt radio (Canada). Podcasts are available on Saturdays after the live show.

Rhino Records announced it will release The Pogues‘ first five albums (Rum Sodomy and the Lash, Red Roses for Me, If I Should Fall from Grace With God, Peace and Love, and Hell’s Ditch) as a Box Set on March 1st, 2010. The compilation is part of Rhino’s “Original Album Series” editions, which include box sets of music by The Pretenders, Echo & The Bunnymen, Todd Rundgren and The Cars.
The Box Set can be purchased at our Revenge of the 80s Amazon Store.
There is, however, some bad news for Pogues fans in the states: According to their official website, the band will not be touring in the U.S. for March as they have been in most of the past years. There are also no plans for a St. Patrick’s Day show this year.

Yes, you are reading this post correctly — THAT Mary Buffett, the investment and management expert and author, who will be on Revenge of the 80s Radio tonight. We will not, however, be talking about derivatives, stocks, bonds or managing a business. Our conversation centers around Mary’s music career, which is remembered most through her EP My Boyfriend’s Back and her version of the title track.

Doug Fieger, former lead singer of The Knack, lost his battle with cancer this morning at age 57. Fieger and the Knack mainstreamed the “new wave sound” of rock in 1979 when they hit #1 with “My Sharona.”

Once again, Revenge of the 80s Radio celebrates the time of amore with a collection of classic alternative love songs.
We honor Valentine’s day with romantic compositions ranging from the sweet sounds of Robey, Allison Moyet and The Little Girls to power ballads like “And As For Myself” by King and “I Got You Babe” by Holly Beth Vincent and Joey Ramone. As listeners to Revenge of the 80s know, we don’t think all love songs have to be slow either as proven by The Undertones, Dramarama and Voice of the Beehive. We also know that there could never be a romantic classic-alt Valentine’s Day show without Elvis Costello and ABC.
We also celebrated love and romance with music from artists including Men Without Hats, Animotion, Doug and the Slugs, Colin Hay, and Kirsty McColl. Happy Valentines Day from Revenge of the 80s Radio.
