To commemorate the Valentine’s Day holiday, we played classic alternative love songs of the 1980s. Artists featured include ABC, Robey, The Alarm, Modern English and Dexy’s Midnight Runners.

This Valentine’s Day, Revenge of the 80s Radio will feature some classic alternative love songs in celebration of Valentine’s Day. We will play tracks from artists including The Alarm, REM, ABC, Men Without Hats and Strange Advance.

We talk about early San Francisco punk, its influences into the 80s, The Dils, Kinman’s music career and his latest project, Los Trendy. The discussion starts in the second hour of the show. We also played a double-shot of music from The Cramps during the first hour in honor of the passing of Lux Interior.

Tonight’s Revenge of the 80s Radio show will feature a conversation with Tony Kinman, former bassist for the legendary punk band The Dils, Rank and File, Blackbird and currently with Los Trendy. We discuss the San Francisco punk scene of mid to late 70s, its place in music history and influence on alternative music in the 80s.

A short while back, Revenge of the 80s Radio did a show featuring great movie soundtrack songs of the 80s. We featured some of the more well-known tracks as well as some of the more obscure. The question, however, of which movie soundtrack songs stood out from the others bore answering

This coming Friday’s Revenge of the 80s Radio show will feature an interview with Tony Kimnan who, with his brother Chip, founded the San Francisco-based influential punk band The Dils. We discuss the San Francisco punk scene, its origins, the rise of punk and its influence on alternative artists of the late 70s and 80s. We also talk about the Dils as well as the Kinmans’ projects through the 80s (Rand and File, Blackbird) as well as Tony Kinman’s current band, Los Trendy

This week, we showcase a duet between former Squeeze Keyboardist-turned-TV Host Jools Holland and ska music pioneer Prince Buster (who Americans might remember from his 1967 hit “The Ten Commandments). Other artists featured include Altered Images, The Little Girls, The Clash and Nick Lowe.

We have refined some of the features on the Revenge of the 80s Radio website, including the completion of a second Interview Archives page, which features conversations with Terri Nunn, Andy Prieboy, Andy Taylor, Robin Lane and several others.

This week, we salute some of the great movie soundtrack songs of the 1980s including classics from fine cinema such as “Surf II,” “Revenge of the Nerds,”Private School,” “Up the Academy” and “Out of Bounds.” Other, perhaps more well-known 80s movies are represented as well.

Tonight’s Revenge of the 80s Radio sow will feature classic tracks from some of the most memorable movies of the 1980s. Among the artists we will play tonight are: Simple Minds, The Bone Symphony, Paul Young and a duet between Annette Funicello and Fishbone.

The second hour is dedicated to classic alternative dance music with tracks from several artists of the era including Alphaville, Amazulu, Strawberry Switchblade, Blancmange and Depeche Mode.
