Mary Buffett, the investment and management expert and author who had a hit in 1984 with “My Boyfriend’s Back,” who will be on Revenge of the 80s Radio tonight.

Do you remember the song “Yaya” in 1982 on the Ronnie Bruce Rogers Ze Records EP Don’t Play With My Emotions? Tonight, on Revenge of the 80s Radio, we will talk with the young up-and-comer who collaborated with him on the effort and sang lead, Rikki St. James.

We wanted to kick off 2010 with something different, so we celebrated with two previously unreleased songs from August Darnell, better known as Kid Creole.

Tonight, we will play those classic club and college party favorites of the era through the entire second hour of the show.

While it was an international hit, controversy over the song wound up depriving us at the time of the musical talents of this fine songwriter.

This week’s show will honor the Moms on Mother’s Day… we will have classic alternative music in celebration of mothers (“Mother Stands for Comfort” by Kate Bush comes to mind) while we will also play tracks from moms of the 80s (and a few NEW moms from the era)

This week’s show is loosely-themed “Songs of the Spring.” I write “loosely” because the music is not necessarily about the spring or from the spring, but the selected tracks are songs that I always liked to hear in the spring in the 1980s and beyond.

Revenge of the 80s kicks off May with music of the spring — or at least what makes me think of the spring. We will feature classic alternative tracks and deeper cuts from artists including Stan Ridgway, Icehouse, Nena, Voice of the Beehive and Dexy’s Midnight Runners.
