Thomas Dolby will be back in North America, coming shortly after a successful performance and lecture tour to support his latest album, A Map of the Floating City, This time, however, the techno synth-pop wizard will come with a new contraption: his own science fiction-inspired time capsule.

This week’s Revenge of the 80s features tracks from The Plimsouls’ new live album, “Beach Town Confidential,” plus classics by Midge Ure, The Stranglers, Icehouse, Strawberry Switchblade, Josie Cotton, Midnight Oil and more.

Two of punk rock’s early legends will begin a tour of North America on Friday, February 24th. Hugh Cornwell, original vocalist for The Stranglers and Glen Matlock, bassist for The Sex Pistols, will co-headline the concert series, which will run through March 17th.

With a new album in the works, the future of alt-rock’s The Godfathers is uncertain after co-founder and lead singer Peter Coyne threatened to leave today, citing tensions within the band.
